Solving Studios | Arts-online-Residency

In the vortex of the second Covid spring of 2021, a photographer, a pianist-composer, a person named Kiko, a pair of poets & an octet of visual artists, joined together for WoodPaperHand’s four-week online-residency “Tools for the Crater” to explore how a plunge into depression feels through text, sound, and image, and how one might explore its depths by immersion in these creative expressions.

This exhibition comes to you, moreover, through the refining lens of the NeuroArts Blueprint and its initiative to spotlight the impact of the arts on well being. Combined with the streaming statistics of youth and adults alike suffering from the impact of a depressive mind, the participating artists draw from their own bouts of depression and/or consideration of depression as a mindset in order to acknowledge and probe new ways of understanding this state of mind.
